Jerusalem
Rd, COHASSET
Resurrecting and restoring one of the greatest Turn of
the Century estates along the Gold Coast of Cohasset definitely had its
challenges. Restoration began at the ground level, replacing the crumbling
foundations and rotted framing and went right up through the house to
the top of the new chimneys. Great care was taken in saving the integrity
of the existing structures and replicating some of the exceptional details
that give the homes the charm and appeal that so many homeowners look
for in a house these days. No piece of molding or trim was left unturned
and nothing was left to chance. Great pains were taken to replicate the
unique trim details on the exterior of the main house. Reproducing the “Sunrise” rake
boards, all the different decorative gable ends, and the custom cut wavy
sidewall shingles meant to mimic the ocean waves are a true testament
to the craftsmanship of days gone by.
Extensive site work and logistics went into this project. Planning
and scheduling were a top priority due to the complexity of the project
and the timeframe spent on site. All new underground utilities were interwoven
with the new drainage and all the ledge that makes Cohasset so beautiful.
All new landscaping was required for the grounds. New
native stonewalls and terraces were built with stone excavated
during the construction site work process. Mature privacy hedge was shipped
in from Long Island, NY to define the grounds and add an element of privacy.
A breathtaking negative edge pool spilling into the Atlantic Ocean tops
off the list of challenges on this one of a kind Estate.

Powder
Point, Duxbury
Built in 1809 by Isaac Chandler, a carpenter by trade, this Cape home
was in need of some 21st century remodeling. A careful renovation has
integrated new amenities and design with the beauty of the original architecture.
The original front cape has all the character and appeal any antique
house enthusiast would love to settle down in. The home is somewhat iconic
, as it has graced the cover of The Duxbury Book as well as an article
that we had published in South Shore Living Magazine in September of
2007 titled “Inspiring Architecture,
3 Antique houses updated for contemporary living .” pgs
31-33
The Cottage,
as it called, is just behind the kitchen and acts as a cozy new family
room. Originally built in the early 1700’s on the Island of
Nantucket, it was brought over to Duxbury about 70 years ago by barge and rolled
across the street at high tide and stuck on the kitchen ell of the home. The
Cottage required extensive repair, rebuilding, and matching materials from 3
centuries ago to make it look like we were never there, but making it livable
for the now.
The kitchen enjoys a Tuscan feel with glazed custom cabinetry, handmade
Italian tiles and the warm tones of copper and a dark exotic wood butcher
block island top. The Professional Series 48” Custom colored
Viking stove takes center stage while the Subzero Refrigerator and dual
Miele dishwashers are hidden behind there respectable matching cabinetry
panels.
At the rear of the house is the new Master Suite, consisting
of approximately 800 square feet with a luxurious bath, dressing room,
well-designed closet and spacious master bedroom. The homeowners wanted
to furnish the suite in classically styled custom cherry millwork, cabinetry,
flooring, and stairs. The details and craftsmanship that went into this
project, sets a new standard of custom built excellence for us.

Gulf
River , Cohasset
What was once an old hunting and fishing lodge is now the embodiment
of Classic Cape Cod architecture. Humble in its approach from the drive,
the homes design takes full advantage of the idyllic setting on the
Gulf River in Cohasset, providing the ultimate in privacy, tranquility
and spectacular year round views of the marsh and River beyond.
The addition of a master suite over the new family room provides
the perfect transition into the newly remodeled spaces of the existing
Classic Cape creating elegant yet functional spaces. Traditional details
are everywhere you look in this home, from the numerous custom built-ins,
custom trim and moldings to the salvaged heart pine flooring.
A new 28x30 Carriage House was built adjacent to the old single car
garage to provide better views of the landscape from the approach.

Square, clean lines, crisp details, natural materials.
These are some of the words our clients used to convey the style, vision
and feeling they wanted in their new home. The finished product captures
these ideas and provides a feel of new Modernism and gives the home
an almost minimalistic feel.
The owners were working with an Architect
from Canada who had never visited the home, but knew the family, the
way they lived, and they brought a new, modern style to the project.
Communication was extremely important throughout the remodeling process
of this home, since there were no site visits or meetings with the
Architect, only their plans, the homeowner’s dreams, and Fabrizio
Construction to build those dreams.
The unique style of this home allowed us to express
the true diversity of our craftsmen and the talents they possess. All
the custom built cabinetry, the kitchen and millwork were fabricated
on site in order to achieve the quality we strive for in all of our
projects. Locating
appropriate materials that are synergistic with the homeowner’s
linear vision provided a challenge that we met head on in order to
achieve the look and distinction that sets this home apart from the
rest.
Look for this project to be featured in the upcoming South
Shore Living Magazine’s Architecture issue in September
